ACTUALIZING OUR MANDATE

Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth” (Psalm 110:3 KJV).

As we begin the New Year, it is necessary that we do so with the right frame of mind and right focus. This year, like all the other years, is the year of the Lord’s power, in which His people are expected to serve Him willingly. We should all aim at dedicating the entire year to promoting the glory of God and advancing His kingdom on earth. This is based on the imperial proclamation of Jehovah to the Messiah saying; “Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool” (Psalm 110:3 NKJV). This is clearly a dominion mandate. The Father wants to bring all the enemies of Jesus to become His subjects and to bow low before Him in submission and worship. This mandate is the essence of the Great Commission: “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen” (Matthew 28:18-20 NKJV). The primary way God wants to bring His enemies to become subjects of Christ is by making them His children through the gospel of grace. The Apostle Peter clearly implied that when He said, God “does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent” (2 Peter 3:9 NLT). The gospel is God’s tool for turning His enemies into His friends. When a sinner embraces the gospel of grace, he is received into the family of God as His child and heir to the promised eternal life. The gospel is therefore rightly described by Paul as the power of God unto salvation. It is the strongest weapon at the disposal of the church for world conquest. In 2026 the Gospel will be preached with the power of God to bring the enemies of Christ to acknowledge that Jesus is the Saviour and King of the world.

God’s people serve willingly in His power, promoting glory, advancing kingdom, making disciples of nations.

For this to happen, the people of God must be willing. Our unwillingness to step out in obedience of faith to preach the gospel of Christ in season and out of season is the limiting factor in establishing the dominion of Christ on earth. God is looking for men and women of faith who would aspire beyond the pleading for handouts from Him and ask Him for the nations. The Father had promised the Messiah; “Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession” (Psalm 2:8 NKJV). This promise formed the backdrop against which our Lord sent us to “make disciples of all nations” for Him, which is what bringing in the harvest entails. The Father had already given Him the key to the nations of the earth and He is willing to open the gates to that nation if one would dare to place a demand for them. The Apostle Paul argued that through Jesus who was “declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead” we have been commissioned to bring about “obedience to the faith among all nations for His name” (Romans 1:4-5). Making disciples of the nations is the consummation of our missionary mandate and you must play your part in the actualisation of this mandate in 20/6.

You must be willing to serve God without reservation in this day of His power. The nations in view here mean tribes and tongues of people; that is people in their language grouping and dialects. This could mean your village, your clan or your kindred. You must plan to make sure that you personally take the gospel to your people in this year of God’s power. God’s subsisting desire is for the earth to be filled with the knowledge of His glory as waters cover the sea (Habakkuk 2:14). As we begin this year, let us do so reflecting on this all important assignment God has given to us. This is our year of Victorious Faith –not faith for bread and butter merely, but faith for the Kingdom advancement. As we seek the growth of the kingdom of God, He will cause all the bread and butter that we crave for to be readily supplied to us in overflowing proportion. Lay out your plan now on how to win your family, friends and village for Christ. Present it before God in prayers and faith will be born in you for its execution. God will raise the work force to go with you. He will invigorate you with grace and renew your strength each day like the morning dew. The Message Bible rendering of our text reads, “Your people will freely join you, resplendent in holy armour on the great day of your conquest, Join you at the fresh break of day, join you with all the vigour of youth” (Psalm 110:3). God will cause His word to come to pass as you step out in faith to conquer your world for Him in Jesus name. Happy New year!
