Meet Dr. Cosmas

Dr. Cosmas Ilechukwu is the General Overseer of Charismatic Renewal Ministries (CRM) Worldwide, with hundreds of branches across the globe. Born to the late Chief P.J.O. Ilechukwu of Olie-Uru, Umudim, Nnewi in Anambra State, Nigeria, he’s the first of 10 children. Dr. Ilechukwu founded and chairs the African Center for Christian Leadership, empowering transformational leaders across various sectors. He’s also the host and chief lecturer of the annual “Change We Need” lecture series, addressing key societal issues and challenging Nigeria’s leaders.

A respected leader in global ministry, Dr. Ilechukwu chairs the International Ministers’ Fellowship, a network of gospel ministers worldwide. Married to Dr. Adeola Ilechukwu, they’re blessed with four children.

Academically, Dr. Ilechukwu holds:

Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration, Imo State University
BSc in Microbiology, Obafemi Awolowo University

His Calling & Ministry

Born into a Roman Catholic family, Dr. Ilechukwu was proud of his faith and defended it ardently. But at Obafemi Awolowo University, his life took a dramatic turn. He got born again in Nov 1977 and was baptized in the Spirit. His experience echoed 2 Corinthians 5:17 – “he is a new creature; old things are passed away…”. He felt a clear call to help others, especially Catholics, experience this new birth.

This passion became the defining force of his ministry. Dr. Ilechukwu wasn’t a “normal” student – God used those university years to prepare him for a bigger purpose. After graduating in 1984, he dove into full-time ministry, starting with National Youth Service. His focus has always been clear: helping others share in the transformative experience of new birth in Christ. To date, this remains the driving force of his ministry and leadership in Charismatic Renewal Ministries (CRM) Worldwide. Through it all, Dr. Ilechukwu’s passion for sharing Christ’s love has only grown stronger.
